Easter Wekend Recap

Before I get too far into this post I am going to admit something horrible and devastating. I took not one picture of the girls in their Easter dresses. We were in a hurry and I just didn't get it done. Maybe next year. We started off Saturday morning with a trip down memory lane and a new experience for the girls. Yummm, pop rocks.

The we did a little bit egg coloring and mess making.

Then we did more mess making as we attempted to make egg shaped fruity marshmallow treats!

Happy Finn!

While we were outside, Finn and Chloe took this lamb, laid it on a bed of sticks with tree bark as the covers, and called it Baby Jesus.

Transformation into bunnies with just a little bit o paint!

Let the egg hunt begin....

I found one, can I eat it?

Easter Bunny goodies---he wisely left the baskets at the gray house so we did not have to endure the million and one requests for jelly beans for breakfast. That is one smart bunny.

Thanks Sam for the Lollipops!

I should have named her Funley!

Finn keeps me on my toes day in and day out. She also keeps me laughing out loud. Christmas 2007 she asked for a three-toed sloth from Santa while going through a lengthy Diego phase. This week she used stickers on said sloth and brought this to me.

I guess Sammy the sloth was heading to an important meeting at the office.

Yesterday a punk rock Hawaiian ladybug showed up to play!

She also says funny stuff like this when getting dressed for bed. "Hey, these pants are long sleeve pants."

Rattlesnake Weekend Part #1

Here is my better late than never Rattlesnake Rodeo weekend round-up. We started the morning with pancakes and then it was off to the rodeo.

Bounce houses are the best!

Cotton candy is delicious!

Too much of the sweet blue stuff makes her dance!

Finn can't resist face painting!

Pretty much everything we did or bought was over priced but the fun we had was totally worth it. I can't wait for next year! Stay tuned for the rest of my weekend wrap-up and some Easter enjoyment in the days ahead.

Pretty good says the mommy.....

Finn brought this piece of artwork to me this week and said it was a dog named "Pop". She spelled her first word all on her own, even if it has a lot of extra letters. She really is growing up.

My first completed page

What do you think? I think it is LOVE-ly!

You Capture

I saw this weekly photo challenge mentioned a few weeks back at another one of those blogs I visit but don't comment on (there are many many of those). So this week's challenge found here was an easy one for me to participate in even though I am a few days late. Spring is in full force and I am in love with my tulip garden, can't you tell?

I hope you enjoy these pictures and get a chance to visit here for even more great pictures.

Lots of Catching Up to Do!

Well all my faithful readers, here it is. My super long post of all things happening in Scott-land. We had a fabulous time celebrating with family a few weeks back. One of our Marbut family traditions (at least in my eyes) is the "couch picture". Sometimes, like at Christmas 2008, it is easy to get a good shot. But when you have 12 kids crammed into one frame where 10 are 4 or under, it doesn't always go so well.

But we survived, ate too many sweets (what else will happen at a candy party?), and slept way too little. Finley and Chloe have spent the past two weeks or so, asking to go to Emma's house, telling me repeatedly they like Emma's juice, and Chloe even said one day that her hair was styled like Emma's. So Emma, you are pretty popular here. I hope we can get together again soon.

Then we came home and had a monster yard sale. I removed a ton of stuff from the house and need to get rid of some more because we have a whole bedroom shake-up going on. Hopefully, by the end of the year Finley and Chloe will be moved into what is now our guest/junk room and their room will have a new purpose. The guest room has a much bigger closet, which they desperately need, and the space to start holding their toys. This will clean out our sun room and make it a functional seating area in our house. Wish us luck that we (you should totally interpret that we as Jeremy) can get it done on time.

This weekend is the Rattlesnake Rodeo and I am looking forward to it. I am hopeful the weather will be nice enough that we can get out and enjoy the day. We have made several trips to the rattlesnake pen and when we were there on Monday we saw this:

Before he took it out of the pen, we were advised to pick up the children. You better believe I had a death grip on Finn and my running shoes ready.
