He's gonna be so impressed by me.....

This is what Finn told me this morning when she finally found a critter for her bug jar. She just knew her Daddy would think she was the cat's meow more than he already does. She spotted the poor caterpillar and stood ever so patiently as I captured him. Then she gave him a leaf to eat so he can get big and strong. I think we will have to have a lesson in releasing nature's creatures this afternoon.

So very hard............

To get these girls to stand still for a picture, much less look at the camera without a goofy look on their face. I know I have addressed this before but it is a rampant problem in this house. I was trying to get some adorable pictures since I had finally convinced them to wear the hat with the dress and not mix things up too bad. These are the best I got.

It is also hard to hear your almost 3-yr-old say "sometimes I love you Mommy and sometimes I don't" Now I know she did not mean it the way it sounded and in her mind she was trying to say she wanted to ride in her Tee-Tee's car for an errand but still. Hard.

It is even harder to hear your 4-yr-old ask for a tissue "to cry her eyes into" because her Daddy is leaving for a trip. Distraction worked and her tears were short-lived but no amount of explaining that he has no choice but to leave makes it better.

We have a hugely busy week ahead of us including haircuts times 3, a doctor visit, and a few surprises. Check in tomorrow for another installment of Muffin Tin Monday.

Famous Faces and Big Changes

First of all, do you recognize anyone in the following photo?

Yep, that's my two angels smack dab on the middle of the front page of the Star News. Don't they look cute?

I am in the process of planning my fall and winter blog re-designs and am contemplating a really big change. I may be moving the blog because it will not be just Finley and Chloe's world soon. Before I do anything that drastic though I am going to archive all of my previous entries into a book of some sort. This is the only baby book my girls have and even though the memories recorded here are scarce with the amount in my mind, they are important. So stay tuned for some exciting things. Well exciting if you are pretty much housebound and bored with doing laundry. Which reminds me, I need to empty the dryer again.

Muffin Tin Monday

Today's theme at HCO was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs/Children's Literature. We checked the "neatball" book out last week but I did not get my thinking cap together in time to pull that one off. Instead I chose a nursery rhyme book from the girls' bookshelf and raided our pantry.

Bell sandwiches-- Mary Mary Quite Contrary
Water-- Jack and Jill
Haystacks-- Little Boy Blue
Eggs-- Humpty Dumpty
Grape Spider-- Little Miss Muffet
Mouse shaped cheese-- Hickory Dickory Dock

I took some liberties with the grape spiders and mouse shaped cheese but thought it turned out okay. The girls did not enjoy the dry spaghetti noodle legs shoved in their grapes though. And for the haystacks, my chow mein noodles were a little stale, so I melted some Hershey Kisses leftover from last week with some peanut butter and they were good. After they ate, we read the selected rhymes and discussed why I picked each item. Hopefully next week I will feel a lot more creative!

Dance, Sleep, Funny Sayings, and a What do I do?

Both girls had their first day of dance this past week and after much flip-flopping they are back at the studio right around the corner and it went well. Chloe might just realize her dream of tapping on stage.

************************************

A picture of the matching cuteness that is to come for Ava and Aubrey! Matching girls is super fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

************************************************************
This is how we found the girls sleeping one night this week when we went to check on them. They really are more alike than they seem.

******************************************

Chloe to Finley: Will you quit whining? Nobody wants to hear that.
****************************************
Finley: I sure wish Jesus would use his magic wand to make the fire ants go away and not bite me.
****************************************
Chloe: I want a highchair and a baby stroller with a hood (said while acting out the two items---hilarious to see)
****************************************

Chloe will be celebrating a birthday soon, and might even be sharing it with a new cousin (hint hint cough cough Miss Aubrey). She has, for months, requested a Captain hook birthday so we will be pirates for a day. Depending on a few things lining up just right, we will celebrate the 10th at the local park. The things that need to be considered are game time and weather. Everything else, I got covered. As for presents, she wants a high chair and a doll stroller with a hood and a doll stroller where the baby can lay down, and a doll stroller where two babies can ride together. Guess which combination that don't make? I can get one or the other but not all three. yikes. I am also trying to nail their little noggins to the wall and make them decide on Christmas lists. Somebody I know (big guy red suit) needs to be DONE shopping by mid-November. Just in case things happen early. I was thrown for a loop this week when Finn requested sparkly make-up sets for Christmas. Did not see that one coming at all. Any tips on good stuff that won't stain their clothes? Because you know what Finn gets, Chloe must have as well.

Muffin Tin Monday

Today's Theme was apples and although I rarely get it together to actually do one, I did today. We had a Snow White lunch and my girls are currently indulging in the movie as well. Perfect rainy afternoon plan!

I use a 12 cup muffin tin and assign six to each girl. Today we had: heart sandwiches, kisses, magic mirror tortillas, poison apple bites, broccoli trees (forest) and diamond shaped jello squares. The jello did not have quite enough time to set up but it was a good attempt. The girls loved it and the magic potion juice that accompanied the meal.

**************************************************************

This was from a few weeks back that I never got around to sharing. The theme that week was planes, trains and automobiles so we went plane crazy. We had clouds and sky (jello with Cool Whip), cheese and cracker wheels, ticket sandwiches, and pretzels and peanuts.

Delicious Hamburgers and Fries!

Following a description here we made these delectable treats last Saturday. We had to have something to do while we waited ever so patiently for that game to start right?

First part: The brownies aka hamburger patty

Second part: Mixing up the cupcakes aka the buns

Third part: Mixing up the sugar cookies aka fries

Fourth part: Rolling out and cutting out the dough

Fifth part: Working on sausage balls while everything cooks according to package directions

every good baker needs a little flour on their nose

Sixth part: Decorating our treats with lettuce, ketchup and mustard. Then we ate them!

Game Day is Great Fun!

Finally the part of the year I love most is upon us. Saturdays are spent watching FOOTBALL! and just hanging out. In honor of kickoff, I got the girls all dressed up and planned to take some pictures. The results speak for themselves.

Not too bad but nobody looks at the camera....EVER!

Complaining about squinty eyes and telling them to open their eyes big gets you this.

And it gets you this--that kid will do anything for a laugh.

Finally a decent picture of Chloe but again, no eyes on the camera.
