Alice and Uncle Shorty

As most of you are aware, Finley has developed a new obsession with stuffed animals. Any type, any size, and they must have a name. We have a Cassi, a baby Jaguar, baby Clifford, Mommy Bear, the list goes on and on. Two of her favorites though are Alice and Uncle Shorty. Alice is the Dalmatian and Uncle Shorty is a black and white spotted mutt (please forgive me real Uncle Shorty, you are not a mutt). After our last trip to Athens, Finley was enamored with my Aunt Alice and Uncle Shorty. They live in a big house and have a pool. So when Aunt Alice gave Finley a stuffed dog, I thought it would be funny to have her call it Uncle Shorty. So she did and within a few days, she began calling her other dog Alice. Since Finley knows Alice and Uncle Shorty (the people) go together as a pair, so must the dogs. Last night Finley placed them snout to snout while she ate dinner and then took them for a ride in her shopping cart. I really can't wait to see what those crazy pups do next!

New Bed New Pajamas

Last weekend we made the big switch. Finn's crib became her big girl bed. So far it has been fairly smooth which makes it all the more difficult for me. She really is growing up and it is happening way too fast. I want to know who stole my baby and gave me this energetic, talkative toddler. I want my baby back....

Last night I let Finn wear a new pair of pj's since I really wanted to see how they fit on her and if she liked them. I told her that her Granna bought them for her and they were special. For the next couple of minutes this is what she said:

Granna bought me these pajamas. They have flowers on them. Ooooh, Granna. Great. Granna bought me pajamas. I love them. Oooh Granna. (She repeated these phrases with slight variations over and over. So, thanks Granna for the great pajamas!)

The Next Generation of Babywearers!

And for those who are wondering, this was her idea. I tried to get her to put her panda baby in a doll car seat but it apparently needed some snuggle time. I thought it was cute and sweet.

Diego Strikes Again!

Finn all set to rescue Mommy! She has her rescue pack, spotting scope and hefty glove.

Over the past couple days, Finn has taken her Diego obsession to a whole new level. She must be "rescued" from the high high tree over and over. She will stand on a small footstool and scream "Help I'm in the high tree again". Then, Mommy or Daddy has to grab the spotting scope and call for instructions on our video watch. Then we have to make our way to the high tree, use our rescue pack as a ladder and climb up to save her. Then we all clap and Finn goes right back in the tree. You would think she would learn to stay away from that tree after the 400th or so rescue.

"I'm Leaving!!!!"

After church today, Finn was tired and hungry. Any person who has spent more than an hour with her, knows this is a troublesome combination. The conversation went like this:

Me: Finley, come sit in your chair and eat.
Finn:(in full on crying mode) I neeeeeed yogurt raisins!
Me: Sit in your chair and I will get them.
Finn:(still crying) No, I neeeeed fruit snacks and toast!
Me:(slightly exasperated) Sit in your chair and I will get them.
Finn:(said perfectly calmly albeit loudly as she headed towards the door) I'M LEAVING!!!

Me: Are you sure? I got your yogurt raisins right here.

Finn:(as she is climbing into her chair) I'm leaving after I eat my lunch.

Porcupine Abuse Hotline Number Needed--STAT!!!!

Okay, I know some of you will notice that it isn't really a poor-key-pine but a hedgehog being subjected to degradation and humiliation at the hands of Finn. She doesn't really care and, for the hedgehog, it is just one more thing it has no way fight. So, I am posting these disturbing images to let the world know what can happen when 2-year-olds are given free reign over the care of their stuffed animals. Stop the Abuse! Save the Poorkeypines! I mean Hedgehogs! Whatever. You get the idea--if we all band together we can change the lives of stuffed animals everywhere. Sing with me now "Imagine all the hedgehogs, living free today...."
