Finn drew this last night on the back of her VBS registration. It only took her a minute and then she said "Mommy look a catfish". Today I had her add her name and the word catfish. Next week, it will earn a spot on her Daddy's office wall.

Extreme Makeover Blog Style

I was a little surprised when I checked back today and saw my new blog design up and running. I thought it would take the wonderful creator a few more days to squeeze my makeover in as she is a new mommy. The talented Jenna from serendipity designs did it for me. The best part is 15% of what I paid goes to a charity near and dear to her heart. August brings BIG changes!

On this the last day of July, I am here announcing big changes to our lives in August. Finley and Chloe will be heading back to Mother's Day Out on August 12th! Can I get a big ole high five? We survived a crazy summer. We are also making plans for Finley to begin her ballet career. That should be very interesting. And the last thing, well you will know it when you see it. Check back next week for the big reveal!

F is for fish

I spend a good amount of time surfing the internet and sometimes my aimless wandering in the vastness of blogland pays off. Several weeks back I came across the following website(or did someone share it with me?) www.notimeforflashcards.com . I can't remember how I got there but I am glad I did. It has given me some wonderful ideas for simple projects to do with the girls. I am doing a very relaxed and flexible school routine where we highlight a letter of the week. Remember when we focused on the letter "B"? This week it was "F" and we made rainbow fish, adapted from the rainy day rainbow featured here. Little things I did learn today: I need to invest in more glue sticks and Chloe likes glue A LOT!!!! Enjoy!

FFF- Friends

This week's theme is friends. In our house, friends come in all shapes and sizes. Some are plastic and some are not really there. Finn's imagination has taken her around the world to visit lots of new friends.

Heading out for a little people's vacation



This window has become the front door of an adorable brother and sister team. We have to pack a bag, walk a few laps around the living room, arrive at the door and ring the bell. When it opens, we see Charlie and Lola, Finn's newest friends.

Before we headed home, we took one more trip to the Kiddie Carnival for swings and Sno-Kones. Finley rode the "big" swings twice and I was quite proud of her. Those things catch some serious air. Then it was the baby swings and the airplanes. On both rides, Chloe tried to escape her safety harness and stand up. She never quite made it but she did get a bruise on her cheek.











To answer the questions I am certain you are thinking right now:

1) No I am not in my right mind, why else would I have let her hold the Sno-Kone?
2) Spray and Wash and lots of it.
3) She really enjoyed every last drop and if I could allow her to have a hundred of them I would. Unfortunately, she has reached her monthly quota of red dyes 3 and 5.

Whirlwind Catch-up

We have had a sad, busy, fun, boring, exciting week and tomorrow will be no different. I am off for a day trip with a friend to visit another friend. When we all get together there will be 7 kids between the ages of 8 months and 5 years. Wacky good fun we will be having, aren't you all jealous? So to recap the week in pics here I go.....

FFF- 25 Things Plus a Picture

For this post I am deviating from the theme of red, white and blue. Bear with me and I am sure my faithful readers (all 4 of you who are not immediate family) will understand. My grandmother, Big Mama passed away Wednesday night. Although she was 84 and sick, it still feels as if a rug was yanked out from under me. So to keep this blog as much in the land of daisies and rainbows as I can, I thought I would share 25 things I remember/ loved about her and a picture of course.

1. Campbell's Chicken Noodle and yellow Tupperware bowls--we had many a lunch of this during summers off from school
2. How she cried at Little House on the Prairie (and a lot of other shows too)
3. The way her purse smelled like chewing gum (Wrigley's and Freedent mostly)
4. Reading about the day I was born in her diary
5. When we would have to take cover during tornado warnings she always made sure someone grabbed her boxes of pictures
6. She HATED snakes and couldn't stand to see them on TV or in books
7. How proud I was that she was there to welcome Chloe home from the hospital since traveling was not easy on her
8. The crafts she always made with her church groups and for us
9. How strong she had to be to live on her own after my Pop died
10. That she was very close to her sisters
11. She loved sweets of all kinds but especially candy
12. Her caramel pies and red velvet cake
13. She always had hope that we would have a white Christmas--definitely not a given in AL
14. She LOVED the Atlanta Braves and never missed watching a game if she could help it
15. She also loved her "stories" (soap operas for everyone else)
16. The trunk full of fabric that was the springboard for dozens of fashions shows
17. Her green beans, they were the best
18. The twinkle in her eye when she was really happy (can you see it in the picture?)
19. That she was at my wedding in Gatlinburg, another trip that wasn't easy for her to make
20. The stash of peppermint sticks in her kitchen drawer
21. Christina Katerina and the Box, a book I must have read a thousand times at her house
22. The way she ran (or at least moved really fast) when someone said "snake!" in their vegetable garden
23. My red flannel gown she made me at Christmas one year.
24. The fact that she kept the bookmark I gave her in 1995 up until a few weeks ago when she gave it back to me
25. Her very ticklish neck

Today during naptime I found a few books and decided to have school with the girls this afternoon. We colored with black, talked about various things that start with "b", and painted with blue and brown. We finished it off with a snack of blueberries and blue yogurt. The girls had a lot of fun so I think I will try to do this once a week or so. Maybe they will actually learn something.
